PullNotifier alternative

PullNotifier vs MergeMe

Both tools replace noisy default Slack notifications with a single message per pull request that updates in place. Here's where PullNotifier and MergeMe actually differ - platforms, routing, self-hosted support, and pricing.

What is MergeMe?

MergeMe posts GitHub pull request and GitLab merge request notifications to Slack as one updating card per PR/MR, with threaded review comments and @mention mapping. One workspace can connect GitHub.com, GitLab.com, and self-hosted GitLab at the same time.

PullNotifier is a GitHub-only Slack and Microsoft Teams app: filtered PR notifications, rule-based routing by repo, label, author, or reviewer, and flat team pricing instead of per-seat billing. It does not support GitLab.

  • Run GitHub Enterprise Server and want a supported integration
  • Want built-in reviewer-only pings, personal DMs, and daily digests out of the box
  • Want routing rules based on PR author or reviewer, not just repo and label
  • Prefer flat per-team pricing that doesn’t grow per seat

MergeMe may fit better if you...

  • Run self-hosted GitLab and want a dedicated webhook + signing token setup
  • Want GitHub.com, GitLab.com, and self-hosted GitLab in one workspace
  • Have a very small team and want a permanently free plan with no usage cap
  • Prefer per-seat pricing that scales predictably as you add developers

FAQ

Is MergeMe a good PullNotifier alternative?
Yes, especially if you need GitLab.com or self-hosted GitLab support. Both tools update a single Slack message per PR/MR instead of spamming a channel - PullNotifier adds Microsoft Teams support and flat team pricing, while MergeMe focuses on multi-git routing across GitHub and GitLab in one workspace.
Does MergeMe support Microsoft Teams like PullNotifier?
No. MergeMe currently posts to Slack only. PullNotifier supports both Slack and Microsoft Teams.
Does MergeMe support GitHub Enterprise Server?
No. MergeMe connects to GitHub.com (cloud) via the MergeMe GitHub App. PullNotifier offers GitHub Enterprise Server support through dedicated or self-hosted deployment.
Does PullNotifier support GitLab?
As of July 2026, no. PullNotifier’s homepage, pricing page, about page, and comparison pages are all built exclusively around GitHub and Microsoft Teams - none of them mention GitLab. MergeMe supports GitLab.com and self-hosted GitLab natively, with a dedicated webhook and signing-token setup.
Is PullNotifier or MergeMe cheaper?
It depends on team size. PullNotifier bills flat per team tier (free up to 4 people, then from $29/mo for 10 developers). MergeMe bills per seat (Hobby is free for a small team; Team plans start from £5/seat/month with a 10-seat minimum). Compare using your actual headcount - flat pricing tends to win for larger teams, per-seat pricing for smaller ones.
Does MergeMe support rule-based routing by author or reviewer like PullNotifier?
Not yet - it’s on our roadmap. MergeMe currently routes by repository/project, with up to 5 label-based rules per mapping. PullNotifier already supports routing by PR author and reviewer, plus reviewer-only pings.
Does MergeMe send daily reminders or digests like PullNotifier?
Not yet - it’s on our roadmap. MergeMe is currently event-driven only: it posts and updates a Slack card as a PR/MR moves through review. PullNotifier already sends daily stale-PR reminders and a digest.
